AFTER SCHOOL
VISUAL ART CLASSES - TERM 1

Our term-based, after-school art classes are a fantastic way for your child to explore and enjoy art every week! Led by experienced facilitators, we explore a new theme each term through a range of mediums and techniques.

​Good to know:

• Classes are suitable for children from Prep to Year 6. 

• School-based classes run from 3.00-4.15pm (allowing time for a snack and toilet break). 

• Non school based locations (Ashgrove West Uniting Church) run from 3.30-4.30pm to allow for travel time from school.

• State School and non-school based locations (Ashgrove West Uniting Church) are open to students from any school.

• Your child is welcome to join after the term has started, just get in touch!

What we are up to in term one:

• ✨ Yayoi Kusama: A Life of Circles
  Discover the mesmerising world of Yayoi Kusama, where circles take center stage in her colorful, infinite artworks. Learn how to create your own captivating designs inspired by her unique style.

• 🎨 Tondo: Scratch Art
  Unleash your creativity with the technique of scratch art, creating beautiful circular "Tondo" pieces full of texture and detail. It’s a fun and engaging way to bring your designs to life!

• 🌸 Beatriz Milhazes: Colourful Culture
  Vibrant patterns and joyful colour come to life through the artwork of Beatriz Milhazes. Explore her fusion of Brazilian culture and modern art to create your own colourful masterpiece.

• 🖌️ Michelangelo: Fresco Painting
  Step back in time to the Renaissance and learn the ancient technique of fresco painting, just like Michelangelo did on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. You’ll create your own fresco-inspired artwork on plaster!

• 🔲 Bridget Riley & Francis Celentano: Optical Art
  Get ready to explore the world of Optical Art, where shapes and colors seem to move and shift before your eyes! Learn to create stunning visual illusions with the styles of Bridget Riley and Francis Celentano.

• 📏 Hassel Smith: Collage Shapes
  Inspired by the abstract art of Hassel Smith, we’ll experiment with collage techniques to create unique, geometric shapes and compositions. Your artwork will pop with exciting patterns and colour!

• 🔨 Frank Stella: Sculpture
  End the term with an exploration of 3D art as you create your own sculpture inspired by Frank Stella’s bold, geometric forms. Shape your vision into reality with a variety of materials and techniques.
